Past programs and events

Since our founding in 2012, TeachingWorks has aimed to be a resource for people who are committed to advancing the power of teaching. One way we pursue this mission is through regular annual programming that brings together teachers, scholars, teacher educators, and education advocates.

Archiving our work to advance the power of teaching

Although our slate of recurring programs and events has evolved over time, we want to ensure that the resources from past programs and events are still available to support ongoing and collective work toward practice-based teacher education that has the power to disrupt injustice. To that end, we have developed an extensive archive of resources that contains videos, articles, and presentations from past events.

Seminar Series

The TeachingWorks seminar series, which ran from 2011 to 2020, aimed to support collective progress to design, implement, and study practice-based approaches to teacher preparation and development. Each year, we organized the annual series around a central problem topic or theme and brought in world-renowned education scholars and practitioners to present their work and spark action. Our archive of past presentations is a rich resource for anyone interested in learning more about the power of teaching for social justice.

Journal Club

The TeachingWorks Journal Club, which ran from 2012 to 2019, explored the latest education research published in peer-reviewed journals. Each meeting of the journal club was led by a member or partner of the TeachingWorks community. They would select two articles from a list of new pieces that had been published on teacher education, summarize the articles, and lead a discussion about them. AACTE Annual Meeting

From 2012 to 2019, TeachingWorks partnered with the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) to develop a thematic strand for the AACTE annual meeting. Each year, we invited teachers and teacher educators from around the world to partner with members of the TeachingWorks team to develop and present sessions that supported and extended our close focus on teaching practice that advances equity and justice.
