Certificate sequence in practice-based teacher education

Designed for content methods course instructors in teacher education programs, this unique year-long learning sequence supports teacher educators to develop their competency in core pedagogies of practice-based teacher education in their own courses. Coaching and support designed for teacher educators

Participants in our certificate learning sequence receive in-depth coaching and support to develop their skill in practice-based teacher education pedagogies  including selecting and using video, focusing teacher preparation on high-leverage practices, and attending to issues of justice and equity through teacher education. The sequence combines three in-person events with webinars and virtual one-on-one coaching in the context of participants’ own course planning and teaching.

The application process

The learning sequence for the certificate is designed for content methods course instructors in teacher education programs. We seek enthusiastic and committed applicants who have the time and the inclination to work together and with TeachingWorks to try out and develop their competency with practice-based approaches to teacher education in their methods courses.

Deadline to Pay the learning sequence fee of $4000

Registration

The fee to participate in theCertificate in Practice-Based Approaches to Methods Instruction in Teacher Education Sequence is $5000. The fee includes:

– Monthly webinars
– Small group sessions
​​​​​​​- One-on-One coaching and support from a TeachingWorks staff member(s)
– Admission to the Winter Coaching Institute ($650) and the Introduction to Practice- Based Teacher Education Workshop ($350)

Please note: You must register for each event separately by the registration deadline. Payment options will be presented during the registration process. A processing fee of $9.95 will be assessed for each event. All travel-related expenses are the responsibility of each Learning Sequence Cohort Member. The full fee must be paid by January 17, 2025

Required Events

The learning sequence will begin with two in-person events in January 2025, the Introduction to Practice-Based Teacher Education Workshop and the Coaching Institute. These events are equipping participants with a foundational understanding of practice-based teacher education, as well as cultivating community within the cohort. Each participant is responsible for the registration and travel costs associated with attendance. TeachingWorks will communicate specific details about these events to admitted fellows.
